Today we are gonna meet Germany sociologist Georg Simmel. In his journal, he touches on many concepts of Fashion. However, I will be speaking about his conception of social differentiation. Simmel suggests that the purpose of Fashion is to differentiate classes by setting trends that only the people within that social class can imitate. It also determines the placement of an individual's social standing. Simmel proposed that fashion is created by the wealthy and is meant only for the wealthy; If any other class imitates their trends, it is frowned upon. His belief is that if we didn't have this need for social differentiation, Fashion would have no purpose.

Sorry Simmel, but I'll have to disagree on this one!

He is right, fashion is a way to distinguish who you were. A style is built on the foundation of expression and chiseled with the formation of creativity. In the end, the unique craftsmanship with exhibit none other than your personality. The clothes you wear, no matter where you buy them is your statement piece.

However, He is wrong when he says that fashion is for the wealthy. Fashion is classless and roaming freely among every human being living on this planet. The creations of style is a way to connect others rather than separate.

Today, We notice that fashion differentiations are simply a thing of the past. Fashion trends have diluted different economic types; Products have become more affordable, and the meaning of Fashion has evolved. Today, Fashion exhibits a sense of freedom and cultural creativity that is loved and embraced by all.
